What You Can Do With Messages

Messages can be sent in several different ways. Set up and testing for each method is similar, but slight differences in configuration options determine the way that the Message can be used.

Single Transmission

A single transmission will be sent to the targeted Contacts once and then the Message will then expire.

A typical example of a single transmission is a company newsletter or a company update email.

Follow these steps to create and send a single transmission Message:

  1. Create a Message.
  2. Add Message Content.
  3. Target the Message.
  4. Test the Message.
  5. Post the Message using a scheduling option of either Immediate or Send Later.

Expired Messages can be reused by clicking the Reuse button on the Summary view of the Message Component window.

Manual Individual Send

A manually sent Message can be sent to a selected Contact when it is requested. For example, a manually sent Message may be an email containing product information. A pre-configured email Message can be sent to a Contact at their request.

Follow these steps to create and send a manually sent Message:

  1. Create a Message.
  2. Add Message Content.
  3. On the Properties view of the Message, ensure Allow Resend is checked.
  4. Test the Message.
  5. Send the Message to individual Contacts from the Contact's Component window, as required.

Triggered Response Message

A Triggered Response Message allows a Message to be sent when a specific event occurs. For example, a triggered response Message could be a welcome email that is automatically sent to a Contact when they register for a promotion.

Follow these steps to create a triggered response Message:

  1. Create a Message.
  2. Add Message Content.
  3. Test the Message.
  4. Event enable the Message by clicking the Enable button on the Message's Summary view.
  5. Add an event listener on the the event source. For example, on the web form used for registering for a promotion.

Recurring Transmission

A recurring transmission will be send a Message to selected Contacts on a regular basis. For example, a recurring transmission may be used to send a weekly email advising a Contact of their loyalty point balance.

Follow these steps to create a recurring transmission Message:

  1. Create a Message.
  2. Add Message Content.
  3. Target the Message.
  4. Test the Message.
  5. Post the Message using one of these scheduling options:
    • Hourly
    • Daily
    • Days in the Week
    • Monthly
    • Calendar Month
    • Advanced
