Setup
To view or modify the setup options for a Txt Service
- Launch the Txt Service Component window.
- From the View bar, click the Setup view.
- The Setup view will be loaded.
The following table describes the fields and functionality for the setup view of a Txt Service component.
Field
What it does
Response Type
Determines the channel to send information to Contacts via. The available options are:
- None (Txt Reply Only)
- Email
- Postal Mail
- Email or Postal Mail
- Callback
Use the None option when customizing a Txt4Info Txt Service to perform a function other than sending information. For example, if using the Txt Service for a poll or competition entry.
Validity Period
Determines the period during which this Txt Service will be valid. Validity combined with the published state determines the response that a Contact will get when sending an SMS to a monitored shortcode.
Unpublish Date
Determines the date and time that this Txt Service will become unpublished.
It is good practise to have this extend beyond the validity period by some time. This ensures that responses that are received from Contacts outside the validity period will still receive a response.
Maximum Total Requests
Determines the total number of requests that can be processed for this Txt Service. If the maximum number is exceeded an exceeded offer maximum message will be sent to the Contact and the order or request will not be processed.
If this value is set to 0 then there will be no limit set.
Maximum Requests
Determines the maximum number of requests that can be processed for one unique Contact. (This is determined by the mobile number that the request is received from). If a Contact exceeds the maximum number then the message "Sorry, you have already requested this offer, and there is a limit of Maximum Requests per person." will be sent to the Contact. The request will not be processed.
If this value is set to 0 then there will be no limit set.
Validation
If selected, Contacts will be asked to make a full registration on the Txt4Info website.
If you enter a valid to date without a time you usually mean "finish at the end of this day" but this is interpreted as a time setting of 00:00:00 - which means "finish at the beginning of this day". Always enter a time value in the Validity Period fields to avoid confusion.
The time fields use a 24 hour clock - be careful to enter 23:59 and not 11:59 for 11:59pm.
